Alex Medler, Ph.D.
Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Charter School Authorizers
Dr. Alex Medler is the Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Charter School Authorizers and is the National Coordinator of the Tri-State Alliance to Improve District-Led Authorizing, which helps school districts in California, Colorado and Florida strengthen their charter authorizing practices.
He has more than 27 years of experience working to improve education and outcomes for young people. Medler previously led the National Charter School Resource Center; and directed policy, research, and technical assistance initiatives for the National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA), the Colorado Children’s Campaign, the U.S. Department of Education’s Charter Schools Program, and the Education Commission of the States. He is a founding board member and former Chair of the board of the National Center for Special Education in Charter Schools, former board member of NACSA, and founder and former board Chair of the Colorado Charter School Institute. He has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Colorado University at Boulder and a BA in Political Science from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
