A champion for children and the chartering idea, Eugene Piccolo served as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Association of Charter Schools from 2005 until his retirement in 2023. He is known for his turnaround of the organization through his sheer determination, ability to partner with and support the state's charter schools, and a relentless focus on putting the students first. Prior to his time at MACS, Eugene was a teacher, principal, and assistant commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Education.
