Ember Reichgott Junge is enthusiastic about the progress of the National Charter Schools founders’ library over the past five years, which she attributes to Jim’s initial vision. She emphasizes the library’s growing importance as charter schools face criticism from both political extremes, stressing the need to maintain the movement’s core values. Additionally, she is surprised and pleased that the library has been instrumental in preserving legislative intent in court cases, a role she did not anticipate when the library was established. Speaking at the National Charter Schools Conference by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, in Austin, TX, June 2023.

“I am so excited about the progress of the charter schools, National Charter Schools Founders Library. In five years when we started it with Jim’s idea, his vision, five years ago, it was a good idea. Today, it’s a critical idea. It’s a critical idea because we are in a situation where the whole idea, idea of chartering, is being actually attacked from both the right and the left, and we don’t preserve the center and what it really is and the intention, we are going to be in trouble as a movement. So this library has actually proved really helpful. You’ll hear about that today, but in number of instances now that legislative intent has been preserved and is being used now in court, litigation and that I did not expect five years ago.”
